Support matrix of MKE versions for cluster attachment

Note

Attachment of MKE clusters is tested on the following operating systems:

  • Ubuntu 20.04

  • RHEL 7.9

  • CentOS 7.9

In each Container Cloud release, Mirantis supports 2 series of MKE minor releases for MKE cluster attachment: 3.4.x and 3.5.x with several MKE maintenance releases that can be updated to the latest supported versions.

Each maintenance release is linked to a dedicated Cluster release of the 10.x (for 3.4.x) or 13.x (for 3.5.x) Cluster release series. Each latest Cluster release of the 10.x and 13.x series contains the same set of features and resolved issues as the 7.x and 11.x Cluster releases respectively delivered with the latest Container Cloud release. The supported MKE versions for a cluster attachment in the latest Container Cloud releases are defined in Compatibility matrix of components versions.

When a new MKE version for cluster attachment is released in a series, the oldest supported version of the previous Container Cloud release is dropped. All attached MKE clusters must be updated to the latest available version within a series. Otherwise, the Container Cloud auto-upgrade blocks until all MKE clusters are updated. For details about the Container Cloud upgrade procedure, see Release Controller.

The following diagram illustrates the support cycle and update paths of the MKE versions for cluster attachment. The versions numbers on the diagram are provided as examples for illustration purposes only. A number before a dash indicates a Cluster release that supports attachment of a specific MKE version. For example:

  • 1-3.4.a equals to the Cluster release 10.0.0 that supports attachment of MKE 3.4.6

  • 1-3.4.b equals to the Cluster release 10.1.0 that supports attachment of MKE 3.4.7

  • 1-3.5.a equals to the Cluster release 13.0.0 that supports attachment of MKE 3.5.0

The arrows on the diagram illustrate the MKE versions update schema.
