Due to upgrade issues with the Envoy gateway and the offline installation environments, upgrading to MKE 4k 4.1.3 is not recommended. These issues are fixed in the 4.1.4 release. For version 4.1.3, Mirantis only supports fresh installations.

Limitations#

It is important to be familiar with the MKE 4k limitations related to Calico OSS CNI:

  • The following kube-proxy mode configurations are not supported:
    • ipvs
    • nftables
    • userspace
  • Switching between IPTables and eBPF is not permitted following a fresh install.
  • Only clusters that use the default Kubernetes proxier iptables can be upgraded from MKE 3 to MKE 4k.
