Release notes#
MKE 4.2.0 is a feature release of Mirantis Kubernetes Engine 4. It adds Windows worker node support, an optional FIPS 140-3 mode, VMware vSphere child clusters, and the ability to run a cluster without an external load balancer. In addition, MKE 4.2.0 introduces high-availability defaults for the built-in system components, two new cluster lifecycle commands, and an mkectl apply wait phase that blocks until addons are ready.
With version 4.2.0, the MKE 4 platform moves to Kubernetes 1.35 and k0rdent Enterprise 1.3.2. The release also closes a large number of issues reported by customers in the areas of backup, restore, upgrade, and migration.
Important
Before upgrading to MKE 4.2.0, make sure to read the Upgrade details and Known issues sections of these release notes, as there are significant behavior changes in the MKE 4.2.0 release that affect existing clusters.
